The Zhengzhou University of Light Industry-Oakland University Intelligent Engineering Joint Institute has an opening for the Director of its ESL program. This is a full time position starting May 2024 and is based within the Institute in Zhengzhou, China.
Background
The Institute will offer degrees in engineering and computer science with students earning degrees from both Oakland University (OU) and Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (ZZULI). The OU ESL program will be offered in the Institute primarily to first year students. Students who successfully complete the OU ESL program satisfy OU’s English Proficiency Requirement.
Job Description
The ESL Director is responsible for the coordination, implementation, high quality delivery, and monitoring/evaluation of the ESL program. This role includes but is not limited to replicating OU’s ESL curriculum, teaching ESL courses and delivering ESL teacher training. The ESL Director will be hired by ZZULI, report to the OU Associate Dean of the Institute and coordinate activities with the ESL program at OU-Michigan.
Required Qualifications:
MA degree in English language teaching and/or other relevant subject area. Candidates with a TESOL certificate may also be considered.
A minimum of five years experience in ESL curriculum design and/or training of teachers is preferred.
Experience in managing language teaching organizations and/or supervising staff is preferred.
Strong organization skills and detail-oriented.
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Good knowledge of the use of multimedia for English teaching and learning.
Experience living and working outside the US is a plus but not required.
